Renew your mind

OCD

Breathe. Understand the thought instead of fighting it. Move through these three slowly.

Reframe

Label it. Delay the ritual. Let the wave pass.

OCD is a cycle of intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and behaviors or mental rituals (compulsions) done to reduce anxiety. The thoughts are not your values, and the compulsion feels like relief but strengthens the loop. Every time you don't perform the ritual, the loop weakens.

Scripture

For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and of love and of self-control.

2 Timothy 1:7

Mindset shift

Name it out loud: 'That's OCD, not me.' Delay the compulsion a few minutes — feet on the floor, slow breath, five things you can see. Avoid reassurance-seeking; every 'just checking' feeds the loop. Consider Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) with a licensed therapist — the gold-standard treatment. Educational only; please consult a professional for personalized support.
